Introduction

State Food Processing Industrial Institution, Lucknow (East- State Fruit Preservation and Dibba Bandi Institution, Lucknow) is contributing its best in the industry of Fruit and Vegetable Processing since last 67 years. This institution was established in Lucknow as “State Fruit Preservation and Dibba Bandi Institution” in year 1949, under Small and Cottage Industry directorate. In year 1953, after merging a part of Agriculture directorate and Small and Cottage Industry Department “Directorate of Fruit Preservation/Department of Fruit Preservation” was established and this institution was shifted in its zone. For the development of Fruit and Vegetable Processing Industries and as per the need of well-trained human resources, state government had started a 15 month “Post Graduate Diploma in Fruit and Vegetable Technology” course in this institution in year 1958. Alongwith state students, students of other state also get influenced by this course and approached for admission in huge number. As per the need of development of horticulture and processing of horticulture crops, state government had established a separate “Horticulture and Fruit Utilization Department/Directorate” in 1947.

In year 1984-85, as per the importance of this course, to fulfill the need of well-trained technician to Food Processing Industries and to promote self-employment for establishment of food processing industries, up gradation was done in ongoing course in 1958, which was equal to post graduate course i.e., “Two year P.G. Associateship Course in Fruit and Vegetable Technology .”

In year 2001-02, as per the importance and contribution made by this institution in field of Food Processing, U.P. Government had changed the name of institution as “State Food Processing Technology Institute.” For the development of well-trained human resources in Food Processing Industry in state, M.Sc. (Food Technology) course is going to be started in 2015-16, after taking affiliation from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi.

Objective

To fulfil the following objectives, establishment of State Food Processing Technology Institute was established:-

  • To contribute in the development of established food processing industries and in establishment of new Food Processing Industries in state.
  • To do research in post-harvest and processing problems, for the rapid growth of Food Processing Industries.
  • To execute its responsibility in private and public sectors by making availability of well-trained human resources of supervision and management level to Food Processing Industries
  • To provide training to housewives, fruit and vegetable producers and to others to make them aware about the utilization of local products and to make changes in their food trend.
  • To maintain the quality and nutrition of processed food for the safe utilization of consumer.

Annual Fee-

  • Course fee Rs. 28500 annually
  • Hostel fee Rs.14000 annually, in which Rs.2000 is included as security money, which is refundable in normal conditions.
